Hi
can I send a pXT message using wi first
Every time I try to send one I get a message saying "mobile data needs to be enabled "
Surely I can use wifi to send ?

A PXT message goes over the mobile network. It's impossible to send over WiFi.

You could try something like WhatsApp or Facebook messenger if the other person has the same app.  That's what our family does..
