Hey guys!
Im with Spark, on 150 gb vdsl plan, been trying to called Spark for the last few couple of weeks to help me to reset dlm port, and 1) they say they dont know whats a dlm port reset is 2nd) they say my internet is good and ignore the problem, but ever since that power failure a few months ago my pings are terrible for gaming, been getting 45 pings to a local spark server compare to my 7 ping before, would any of you would be kind enough to point me to the right directions  to help me reset port so i can get back my old settings,

Hi, I had a similar issue to yours, speed went throught the roof but so did ping...straight after the power outage..I think it's just a case of waiting for dlm to do its thing, mine went back down to normal 4 days ago (ping back to 5) after dlm reset Sunday morning.

There is no such thing as a 'dlm port'.

Resetting the DSLAM port will reset DLM however

I can do a port refresh if you want. But there is no easy way to kick off the dlm process as a isp. It all happens in Chorus land without any tools to manage it.

I'd say there is probably about a 95% chance of being back exactly where you were within a week.

Some people seem to have a misguided view that DLM is there to cripple their connection - but it's there to ensure you have the best possible connection. This does not mean the best possible speed as the two are not the same thing.

what is you ping at the moment? what was it before the refresh?

I'm getting 22-25 now but before restart was getting 39-45, use to be around 6-8 ms before power outage now modems getting lot of errors.

Just a picky observation on the modem settings...

output power (dBmV) 13.5

I guess the units should be dBmw.

Cheers

give it time to settle in..

you moved a fair way back in profiles, will take a bit longer to get right back down to DLM-1.

Especially if your now getting a fair bit of errors.

Or potentially never going back to DLM1.

People need to understand VDSL2 in particular can be an ever changing variable depending on other activity in the MPF pair etc.

DLM put the OP on what it thought was the best profile. Resetting this has improved sync slightly but introduced CRC errors which would suggests that the profile the line was on was the best suited. It'll not have to move back through profiles to probably right where it was before the port reset before it settles down.

If constant latency is important VDSL2 is NOT the best option, ADSL2+ with interleaving disabled is.
