Before I buy a new Telecom cellphone can someone in the know tell me why telecom's $10 txt for 500 messages still exists when people can choose the $10 mega text and send 2000 messages a month? Wouldn't it be better to be on the 2000 message plan or what am I missing. Please email me at <email address removed> Thanks Bruce

500 Texts is to ANY national Mobile, Vodafone, Telstraclear, and Telecom. 2000 Texts is to Telecom Mobiles only.

As previously discussed the 2000 sms option covers 'on net' sms only, while the 500 sms covers national sms (to other mobiles, not shortcodes etc).

I'm on the 500 text version of $10 text, mainly because I don't text too much, and I don't want to worry about whether someone is on an 'off net' provider or has ported their numbers.

I know people who opt for the 2000 text promotions and then refuse to text because they don't want to foot the 20c charge for texting 'off net', same with the people on mates rates/motormouth prepaid/postpaid calling plans. Their decision, their loss.
