Telecom have released a new series of mobile plans called Freetime. They replace the older Mytime GO plans, and offer two sets of minutes, off-net and on-net, with the larger set being on-net off peak minutes.

For More information see: http://www.telecom.co.nz/content/0,8748,205372-201935,00.html

As I wrote before, I would be keen to move from Vodafone, but since I don't have a contract with Vodafone I don't want a contract with Telecom.

So in fact "term contracts" not only lock people in, it also lock people out.

Again, dumb things those...

Hi freitasm

correct me if I am wrong but when I checked my number which is out of contract there was no early disconnect fee.
So if you own your own phone what can you loose? cheers George

Will a service be provided so we can check what network landline numbers belong to? (similar to the one where you can check what mobile network people are on)

Mytime flexi is still alot better for me as I do a mixture of peak and offpeak to both on and off net. I have yet to see a VF plan that gives me 20c (1st 100min) then 10c per min after that to any national number off peak.

Telecom requires me to sign a contract, even if I have my own phone. I don't want to be locked to an operator, because at any time the competitor might offer something better. But the way it is now, Telecom gives me no choice but to remain with Vodafone, with the stupid requirement of signing a contract.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Yuck Yuck Yuck and the forced contract is even worse.......... verdict... stay with Flexi.

The main included minutes are just to "Telecom phones" but you get some "Other night and weekend minutes"... how irritatingly confusing.
The "out of included minutes" pricing is also hideous.

Flexi was innovative and offers overall better value. The minutes and texts are offered to any New Zealand based mobiles.... Just simple, adjustable and possibly the best designed plan ever created.
The high-off peak user will not get stung! No surprises, no catches!

Now the forced contract thing.......I think it's high time for the TUANZ and Commerce Commistion act on this new policy of locking people into contracts for everything and not giving any added value as a result.........

YOU CAN NO LONGER ENTER A PERSONAL PLAN WITHOUT A RESTRICTIVE, EXPENSIVE CONTRACT TERM on either provider.....

Correction, it actually looks like Motormouth is still available and it carries no contract term.

I was told 3 months back that it wasn't. Someone needs to educate these stores.

Cheers for the heads up.

So on the basic flexi the 100 allocated off peak free minutes are only to 'Telecom' phones/landlines?

Where as on my current My 100 the off peak free minutes are to anyone?

If thats the case i will try and stick to my current plan as long as i can or am i automatically on this new plan?

Thank you for posting this.  99c/min for Freetime 125 to Vodafone cellphones at off peak times.  Does anyone else think that prices are actually increasing?  That's double prepay.

Well you do have a choice, Freetime (included minutes) or Flexi, no guess workWink. If you are worried about how many minutes you think you will be using month to month, then Flexi is the plan, while Freetime is of benefit to people who mainly call Telecom mobiles and New Zealand landline's, yet know what their usage will be.

Again, FLEXI ALL THE WAY!

Flexi mytime is just 20c to ANY national mobile offpeak and price actually drops to 10c offpeak when you use more than 200 minutes a month (That's cheaper than the mobile interconnect rate!!!)

All peak calls are $1 a minute but no "20 forced minutes" aka youchoose.
