I have the Nokia 6165i phone and I have just set it up to Telecom (got my number from old phone transfered over). But I am having some problems..

- the phone wont connect to make a call but if it does it will last for a few seconds before it says "call dropped"
- the phone makes a buzzing noise, and a louder one every time you open the flip up.
- it also buzzes each time the screen light goes off and also whenever i push a button to make the backlight light up...
- when i turn it on it says "GPS FAILURE CALL SERVICE PROVIDER"
- when i try access it says "GPS ERROR - Null pointer java/lang/NullPointerException

what is wrong?????????

If it is covered under warranty, then get it repaired.

If it is not covered under warranty, then you should probably get it repaired anyway.

If you can, you can try doing a master reset of the phone, though that may not help.

the Software is either screwed up randomly or the phone has been liquid damaged.

Try and get your money back ASAP and be really nice as it sounds like he might have tried taking you for a ride, again he might be genuine so just be nice for now.

Try sending it in for a lock code, it costs $30 I think... but actually "lock" it first. I might work or not work.

If there is any damage internally or any liquid, it will probably brick so you risk it all.

how do you do that lock code thing?? lock it and say you forgot the lock code???

i've been emailing the guy who sold it to me, he said he had courier insurance on it so maybe it got squashed in the courier van and something inside has gone bust??

It sounds like a dud phone to me (dropped, liquid damaged, twilight zoned).

Do everything you can to get a refund asap.

My vote is liquid damage.  Did the phone work properly when you first got it?  Take it into a store and ask them to look at it for you.  An experienced salesperson should be able to see any liquid signs on the outside, but not on the innermost bits.

snowboard_freak: whats twilight zoned??

"There is a fifth dimension. Beyond that which is known to Man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of Man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call...the Twilight Zone."

yeah its weird though because when i received the phone, the guy had forgotten to delete his messages in his inbox so it must of been working for him...

Until he got it wet/dropped it/twilight zoned it... then sold it on trademe to you.

what would telecom do if i took it in

Offer to send it away, and then charge you at least a minimum repair fee to get it back.

or rang them up?

Tell you to go into a store.

yeah the phone seemed to work fine when i first got it, it was disconnected so didn't try and calls but had a play around on it, didnt notice any quite buzzing noises its doing now though.. it was only after i came out of telecom i tried to make a call and a text and it wasn't working and making a buzzing noise whenever the phone did a function.

it seems a little better now as its sending and recieving texts but its still dropping quite a few calls when i call *333 to test it out, last call lasted 20seconds before it said call dropped..
