Hi all,

I have a cheap old Samsung phone (SCH-N415). According to Telecoms website SMS to Taiwan is listed as

One-way with reply path

One way with reply path means you can text to a mobile in that country, but they can only reply to one you send (within 2 days of you sending the initial text).

However, I have sent several txt messages to a friend there and they have replied, yet I have not received their message. I noticed when I send a msg it has a CB# of 027.... Is this the number that would be used to reply? In that case should I change that to 006427... when I send a message to Taiwan? The network I am sending to in Taiwan is Taiwan Mobile.

Your friends in Taiwan would need to put the number inas if they were ringing you, I think. So, 0064... is okay as long as that is what they use over their. (It's so nice when a country uses one number to get into the overseas bits - Australia has several, depending on your network, carrier, fax etc.) Not sure if it's a network problem, my daughter sends one text from Australia (Optus) and I get three blank messages. I won't let her waste her money any more... If your friends' phones say message sent then there is a glitch somewhere else, maybe with their carrier?

Thanks mobygeek. I've told them to make sure they are using 0064 and they assure me that they are but you know sometimes you can't trust what people say unless you can actually see for yourself

I might give Telecom a call today and query them about it and also ask my friends if they have to add anything special to get to NZ.

Call-back Number shouldn't make any difference. This is a number used to make a voice call back to the message originator. It may not even make its way across the international leg. What's important is the format of the Originating Address, which is set by the network, not the end-user.

Still worth asking Telecom why it's not working tho'...
