It only has ~32MB worth of storage. Therefore if you want to fit more songs on, you'll need to reduce the bitrates (thus making the songs smaller) to fit more on.

More a more serious music player, look at the Sanyo M1, Sanyo 8400, or if you can find one - Samsung A920.

I have a Sanyo M1, so far I've put 111 songs on it.  (Memory is just over half full)  Which is a bit boring if you start at the beginning every time!  I also chop and change my music, so it may be a good idea to create several 'albums' on your computer, with the reduced files which you can then swap around!  Also, if you can, make a favourite on your phone for connecting your phone to the computer - just saves a few steps.

I have an M1 with about 300 songs on it. Its been great, but I tend to find I use my iPod more. I think I would use the M1 music player a lot if it was my only mp3 player, but being a gadget magpie, I just have too many lol.

I also have a W531, never considered using it for music with such limited memory.

loses a bit of quality going from 4-6mb down to about 1-2mb per song, but hey... its a phone and it was free.

Although the 531 has only 43Mb of memory there is a way to maximise the songs you load. Although most mp3's are 2-3Mb you can reduce the bit rate to the lowest setting reducing the file size to 1.2 even less than a meg, as the mp3 only playing through a headset and not being amplified you can get away with low file size without noticing the sound difference. However if you play it though a car stereo or amp and crank it up the sound is crap. What I do is to keep the orginonal files at max file size (6-10Mb per track) then I copy them into another directory and reduce the bitrate to 64Kb if possible or otherwise 128kb.
