Hi there,

Well earlier today i purchased myself a brand new Sanyo M1 - awesome i thought a new phone :)

However i have struck a problem - how do i "activate" it?

What i mean by activate is that i have tried sending a txt to it, ringing it and also topping it up but none of them work. When i txt it the txt just doesnt go through, when i ring its as if my phone is off or in a call and goes to my mailbox and when i ring 0800323232 to top it up it says something like "your phone may have been configured wrong, please contact your telecom store" (Something like that i cant really remember).

I have rung customer services and they have said i need to take it into a telecom store - but i shouldn't really have to do that considering i have owned many mobiles before and has never been a problem.

So yeah is there something i am not doing? What do i need to do so my phone gets "activated"?

Thanks for your help and thanks in advance :)

Take it into your local store, and they should be able to get it activated within minutes!

You may need to check to see if that phone has been connected on the network.

If you are wanting to go prepaid and have an new or existing number, call 0800 323232 from an alternative device (landline, other voda/Telecom mobile etc) and make sure that it is connected (ie. matches the ESN number on your phone).

If it does, you may need to get it re programmed (by typing in a series of numbers).

If its postpaid, the same applies - try 123 on your landline or *123 from an alternative telecom mobile.

M_I_C_H_A_E_L: Hi there,

Hi there.

You dont - Telecom does.

"Helloooo... this is Telecom mobile. If you're a customer on our network, your phone may have been set up incorrectly. Please contact your mobile retailer."

I have rung customer services and they have said i need to take it into a telecom store

Good advice. Your phone is either not connected, or not 'nammed' correctly. Take it into a Telecom store.

- but i shouldn't really have to do that considering i have owned many mobiles before and has never been a problem.

Your phone isn't working, you rang the people who can fix it, and they told you what to do to fix it, but now you decide they dont know what they are talking about?

Very odd.

I actually think you should take it to a Telecom store...

So yeah is there something i am not doing?

Yip - you havent taken it to a Telecom store...

What do i need to do so my phone gets "activated"?

Take it to a Telecom store...

Thanks for your help and thanks in advance :)

No problem...

Where did you buy the phone from? Did you have a number transferred to it? Did someone at the store you bought it from program your old number into it?
