Currently I'm on UFB with Vodafone and using Getflix to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc, on my Amazon Fire TV. I have the Getflix DNS entered on the device directly, but as I'm led to believe because they use a transparent proxy it causes all sorts of issues for me, particularly with Netflix menu images and thumbnails not loading properly and/or loading slowly. Hulu can be the same but not quite as bad.

I've tried different DNS unblockers but same result. I've also previously had it set up on the router but this just messes up every device connected wirelessly.

I believe BigPipe also use a transparent proxy(?), but just wondering if any Netflix users using a DNS unblocker experience the same issues as above with BigPipe?

I am using Getflix with no problems, only thing you need to do is request a public IP. Otherwise the CG-NAT gets in the way and sends your DNS queries from different IP addresses each time which Getflix doesn't like..
To get a public IP just flick them a message via their support page and they will have you sorted out in a couple of hours :)

Sweet thanks I didn't know about the public IP.

Bigpipe doesn't do any caching AFAIK. Apart from the CG-NAT it's pretty much straight out to the internet.

Are you sure you didn't mean a static IP? I asked them about a public IP and they said they don't have them and instead offered me a static IP.

It's working perfectly anyway so I'm happy regardless.

They do have public IPs. I have one which I needed for VOIP and requested. It's not a static IP - it can change with a reconnection of the modem. Initially, they only had a small pool of public IPs so you were by default on a private IP.

Even with CG-NAT you'll find somebody is paying for an unblocker for the public IP meaning everyone behind that IP gets free unblocking - this is what I found.

The problem I have found is that the IP is changing quite often so that it will work one min and then die the next.

That's interesting, maybe they don't offer them anymore? It seems odd they would tell me they don't have them if some of you are on one.

They sure do. Just try again. If they've run out they shouldn't have said "we don't do them".

So I've been switched to a public IP and now my performance is worse? Thumbnails and images on Netflix and Hulu menus don't display (exactly how it used to be on Vodafone) or only display randomly, and no amount of fiddling or restarting the modem makes any difference. This occurs using those apps on a variety of devices too.
