If you have a Telecom landline - you can add it as an onebill connection from memory, which means no monthly fees.

telecom do not give you the option . from my own experience any device (prepaid, postpaid, data card, office network. ) that uses the telecom mobile network is automatically charged 20c /txt till the total reaches $10.00 then whatever txts are sent after that for that month up to 500 are free. the only choice you get is if you are a prepaid customer you can gety a boost option which is $10 for 100 txts but your voice calls cost more.

On postpaid you have two options:
Prepaid has regular $10 text (any NZ network sms), and boost monsta plan (2000 on net sms)

Yes, as long as you have it connected under a voice connection.

The $10 text promotion can't be added by itself - it needs a postpaid plan. It can be pretty much any plan as long as its postpaid.

s.joseph - don't know how you got away with it!!!  Possum - If you come in-store and want me to put it on prepaid  I will say it can't be done because that is what dealer support has told me.  If you do it over the phone, and actually are allowed to do it prepaid, who is going to guide you through programming the phone number into your treo!!!

I just thought of something...  Do you have a relative who will put the Treo on One Bill for you and put a bar on outgoing calls?  Then you just pay the money to them...

Won't the outgoing bar also affect your ability to text messages?
