Dear BigPipe,

Ever so slightly annoyed that you removed me from the Public IP address pool, once I moved, without even telling me no less!

I now contact support, only to be told - "Now that you've moved address, that public IP was relinquished and we can't reinstate it."

Any ideas why you would do this, and what can be done about it?

Yours truly,
One of your original customers.

This is under their static IP FAQ's on website:

"Once your Static IP has been assigned to you, we cannot change it on that plan. Your Static IP will change if you move between different Bigpipe plans. If you move house - just remember to select the Static IP option when submitting your move house order. You will still retain the same Static IP as long as you're staying on the same plan."

Are you on the same plan as before the move?

Same plan. Just updated the address and it was switched over in a couple of days.

Edit: FYI, my query is about the public IP address pool (ie. cgnat being disabled), not static IP.

Static IP is not the same thing as public IP. The OP is talking about having a public IP.

I assume they don't give out public IP anymore since static IP is one of their offering??

OP may need to pay for static IP now...

We've stopped doing public IP for free for new customers.
Now static is the only option for one-off $45 to avoid CGNAT.

BUT existing public IP customers can keep their public IP, and that should have happened when you moved house.

PM me your email and I'll have a look and see if we can put you back on public IP

If you are charging for a Public IPv4 I presume you are offering IPv6?

we are charging for static IPv4.  (most other ISPs also charge for static IPv4)

Is there any update on IPv6?

Currently using Tunneling, which was plenty fast enough when I had a 30Mb connection. Now I'm on 200Mb, it's a noticeable bottleneck.

No update on v6 at the moment.

From our POV, it's on the long list of stuff we want to do,  but if you can make case for us prioritising it, and moving it up the list, then I'd be very interested to hear it.

Particularly answering questions like: What is it about v6 that you really want to do that can't be done on v4?

well if you're using CGNAT by default, having IPv6 should make it easier to game etc, open ports and whatnot.

We do have static IP option to allows you bypass CGNAT for that kind of stuff.

Man. I forgot I was still getting notifications for this thread...

Anyway, just a quick message to say thanks to Niall @ BigPipe and the team for sorting out my issue. You guys never let me down, despite my moaning. :)
