Our service down here near Porirua,  Dropped out at 1730 and has high loss to nearest gateway.  Spark website is saying:

Broadband Connection Issues Estimated Fix Time: Ongoing Impacting service since: Wednesday 11 February @ 5.30 pm Some customers may be experiencing problems with their Broadband connection. Our technicians are currently investigating. At this stage we are unsure when the services will be restored. Sorry for the inconvenience.

As there hasn't been any other post on Geekzone it seems may be fairly local but the lack of info now we are coming up to 3 hours down is a bit disturbing.  Any further info yet please Spark?

It seems along with the mobile outage that Spark broadband has suffered from a broadband authentication issues. I've seen a number of people from Wellington mention this on Twitter.

EDIT: Ooops, sorry - don't go to the other thread as they're separate issues

Yep, I saw the other thread.  As the timing seems the same I think they could well be related but they are separate red icon on the Spark website.

I am getting pings through to gateway but high loss so not sure if this is authentication related.

I feel sorry for the Spark techs.

This raises the issue of TV delivery now I have a couple of women that like their Lightbox fix and can't go to planner on MySky for those programs.  With no (simple) way to record we are becoming heavily reliant on 24/7 connectivity.  This 3G backup isn't going to handle the streaming.

If we lost a TV transmitter covering a populated area for this long it would have been a disaster but at least it was easier to add redundancy and hence the service was nearly always there.   I guess we have moved to having a lot more choice but the reliability of program delivery isn't as good.

Good evening everyone.  Looks like a Chorus issue affecting Spark BB customers in Porirua, and potentially Naenae and Nelson.
It's under action with Chorus, no current ETA.
Completely unrelated to any mobile issues.

Any different, if I'm on VDSL? Phone line works though.

We have no widespread BB issues elsewhere in our fixed network.  Suggest anyone in the 09 region having issues, please give us a call.

Spark's DNS servers don't respond to ping requests.

Mine is getting worse - DSL sync looking normal but modem reports "No ATM activity detected on your DSL line".  Hopefully for others this is a fairly local issue.
