Love this feature. I have it turned off for both my husbands and my cell phone with a message to call our home phone, text, email or try again later.

Yay!

It's a great idea I wish the other telcos would implement. It seems older people feel that not leaving a message is rude despite the outgoing message saying not to leave a message. And those bloody robodialers that leave stuff. Mine keeps filling up and I have to call in occasionally to delete them.

Other option would be for telcos to stop playing a busy tone when you reject a call without voicemail. Only reason I have it is so the calls go somewhere when I reject them for no number or whatever. A nice message that the call was rejected by the recipient before hanging up would be good.

I'm on Spark and it appears I only need to email to cancel voice mail so not sure how big a deal being able to do it yourself. Never really been an issue to me but if I had the ability I would most likely use it.

Yeah, you can cancel voicemail on spark just fine, you cant have it so that you have your greeting played to callers and then no oppertunity to leave a message.

point taken but if unable to leave a message then they have to ring back. I'm now used to using smartwatch and swipe away calls when busy and send a text I'll call later, I realise that is when you are with phone though.

My mother always leaves a message so would be good to turn it off altogether innocent

Simple but cool feature. I'm on Spark and changed the number of rings before voicemail answers to 30seconds and people still leave voicemails

My greeting even says I don't listen to voicemails please email or text

Doubt Spark would follow, they make far too much money off their corporate customers who have to pay to listen to voice messages. Apparently that alone makes up quite a large portion of our companies total mobile bill.

Just record an engaged tone as your greeting for 30 seconds and the caller will just hang up.

Need an engaged tone?
Pick up your landline phone... wait a minute... the dialtone will eventually change to an engaged tone. Hold your cellphone up to it and record your greeting of duhh duhhh duhhh duhhh duhhh

The probelm I have with things like that is it means that people have no idea that you have rejected their call, if you have no voicemail then they get a busy signal when the call is rejected, so they call back again, and again, and again and then tell you that you are very hard to get hold of, whereas its their fault for calling from a blocked number.

I just put a redirect to a VOIP line that i control. Calls on it instantly go to voicemail, voicemail is emailed to me. I get voicemail that i can listen to as much as i like, but never have to pay for it - it just uses 1-2mins of my 1000+ available.

Unfortunately, Skinny does not support call forwarding.

Skinny... why not?

I suspect it's money. Forwarding means you'll be more likely to use those prepaid minutes you otherwise wouldn't use.
