I invite everyone to read and post your comments in the draft Mobile Premium SMS Services Draft Code.



The TCF established Mobile Premium SMS Services Working Party in August 2007 to prepare a non regulated industry code of practice to set standards for mobile telecommunication service providers, mobile service providers and content providers, covering issues such as the customer authorisation and notification process, advertising requirements and additional rules relating to subscription and chat services.

The draft Mobile Premium Rate Services Code has been issued for public consultation.

Public submissions on the draft Mobile Premium Rate Services Code must be sent to the TCF Forum Administrator by 19 November 2007.

The draft Code will be updated following the submission process and it is expected to be finalised by 20 December 2007.

The Commerce Commission is an observer on this working party.




This post is not aimed at Telecom New Zealand, since the Premium SMS scams are coming from all sides, but we don't have a generic forum for this kind of things...
