Workmate is trying to get his BigPipe connection working using an old Draytek Vigor 130 modem of mine which was working with Telecom\Spark perfectly well a couple of months ago, he's able to get a VDSL connection and an IP address, but no traffic is getting beyond BigPipe's gateway (210.54.38.193). They insist that it's a configuration problem at his end, we're not so sure.

We've tried factory resetting the unit & reconfiguring as per their instructions.
Plugging a laptop directly into the modem (taking a router out of the equation).
Have tried with & without username\passwords.

He gets a VDSL connect rate of 37Mbps/10Mbps, and DHCP allocates an IP and DNS servers correctly.

Has anyone else got a working config for a VG130 that they could screenshot?

Yeah, those are the instructions that we used, which is what makes us suspect that the issue is in fact something at their end despite their claims to the contrary.

Ok, so just plug in another modem and see what happens. Since they dont have any auth etc you shouldnt need to touch anything on it.

Was hoping it wouldn't come to that as that involves buying another modem, but I don't see what choice we have.

can you borrow another VDSL modem to test with?

(worst case you could buy one off trademe, then sell it again)

Have you asked for a static IP? Could be misconfigured maybe at their end?

Yeah, might see if he can get a cheap one from TM, may be useful as an emergency backup if nothing else.

A static IP had been requested so it's entirely possible that's got something to do with it.

Thanks team, all has been sorted now! (Some sort of static IP oddness apparently).
