Spark 'free' WiFi type, range, optiumum configuration. Any knowledge or experience to share?

Also is the equipment and configuration used consistent across all sites or are there some differences?

I'm not sure what you want to know because all your answers can be answered just by looking at their setup.. They use Ruckus hardware with different sites either being 360 degrees or sectorised. Range will obviously depend on the usual variables that effect WiFi coverage but the Ruckis kit is the best outdoor AP that exists in the marketplace. Whether it's ADSL or VDSL backhaul will depend on what's available at the location.

Good to know it is all the same equipment and configuration. I hardly ever use wifi and have never used a national or regional service. I assume it will connect automatically when in range of one of these spots. I was thinking of setting it up with fixed configuration parameters to reduce negotiation time when connecting. Perhaps this is not an issue in practice.

Basically - you sign in once and you're fine for 3mo, your device will automatically use them if they're in range and it is seamless. I am posting this GZ reply over one and use them all the time.
