Hi,

I have been using Unlocator to watch Netflix USA (More Content) and their DNS is configured on my router. For the past few days, i have been noticing that all the websites are really slow including streaming from Netflix and other sites. Frequently gets name resolution error. Even my phone keep saying that i have a slow internet connection. Contacted Unlocator and they said Telecom NZ (Spark) is blocking their DNS.

Tried removing Unlocator DNS and put Spark DNS back and websites are loading fine now. Phone is connecting fine as well.

Can anyone please tell me if there is any other Smart DNS provider from whom i can get uninterrupted service in NZ. I am on Spark VDSL connection.

I'm using UnoTelly and having no issues - watched Netflix USA last night and it was fine. I've only put their DNS settings into the devices I use to stream (Apple TV, PS3 and one iPad) and have left Spark's DNS in my router.

I've put the Unotelly addresses into my router and I have noticed some websites take a long time to load up now. The Stuff website is particularly bad.

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

I will have to try this and see if it improves the situation

When i configure Unlocator DNS on my PC only, then that PC starts behaving abnormal. Including Netflix is slow.

I think i will have to look for another DNS service or VPN.

Any suggestions anyone ?

Most of 'em offer trial periods, so you can ensure they work for you. There's Getflix, dns4me (what I use), unotelly, unblock-us to name but a few.

Perhaps this is Spark's way of somehow messing with geo-unblocking, since they (along with Sky, Mediaworks and TVNZ) are having a crack at the legality of Globalmode.

Maybe try another ISP?

Ahem. I have to confess I'm with BigPipe, the cut price geek subsidiary of Spark. Still, no DNS probs for me.
