The details for this pre-pay say 100 MB NZ data but all of the announcements of this plan just said 100 MB data.

So, what gives? Does it really mean that all the announcements were wrong and you can really only access NZ based sites?

It means you can access internet both international and local while you are in nz. Once data roaming becomes available you will not be able to use this 100mb while you are overseas.

Let me add another question. Are Spark and Skinny the same service, and there is only one $9 plan, which is prepay? Why is it called prepay if it's advertised as $9/month? With my current 2-degrees prepay plan, I just go to any retail store and top up any amount I like when I need to top up; there is no monthly payment. Can you clarify my understanding? Thanks.

You load money on to your phone. If you don't buy any plans you will just use the standard rates.

Alternatively you can buy a combo like the $9, $16, $26 or $46 which will give you minutes, texts and data for much better value than it would be normally with standard rates

2degrees do the same thing with their $19 plans etc.

So it's sort of similar to being on a contract plan, except theres no contract and instead of getting a bill it comes out of the money you top up with

Thanks, Yabanize. I find the $9 Skinny prepay plan attractive for my low usage. Do all you voice, texts, data credit expire at the end of each month, and when you top up $9 you get the same credit again for the next month? Currently, my 2-degree prepay plan allows me to use the voice and text credit for, if I still remember correctly, one year before they expire.

Yes they do. At the end of that month if you have $9 credit it automatically renews and you get those allowances again.

If it fails to renew you go back on to standard rates

Why not spend the extra $7 and get the $16 plan which has rollover data and minutes?
