There has been a growing attitude of "I don't need a landline, I'm never home anyway and I'm going to use my mobile".

However I have to consider the ease (and cost) for others to get hold of me (some of these people may not have mobile calling plans).

Is there any such thing as having a "virtual" landline, keeping my landline phone number and having that free to call for locals via their landline, but having the call diverted to my mobile - but NOT having to pay per minute for these diverted calls?

Sparks new Fibre landlines seem to have a feature like that. Not sure how the pricings work but I know that they redirect landline to your mobile phone on spark..

2Degrees Landline on your Mobile does what you want, for $20 a month IIRC.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

My attitude is that if its not worth paying to get in touch with me then its probably not worth me being interrupted for.

Unfortunatly the prevalance of people having a crapload of mins on their mobiles now means that the reduction on being annoyed about trivial stuff by being landline free has been eroded.
