so when we launched UFB in Auckland we did this http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=158&topicid=153862, and got a great response, so we're repeating it again (slightly modified) for our Wellington launch.

TL;DR version:   Get Bigpipe UFB in Wellington = Get free stuff

So you guys would have seen we have now launched super sexy UFB in Wellington (yay!)

plans etc can be seen at www.bigpipe.co.nz - they are awesome, trust me.

Special offer just for Geekzoners

Here is an extra special offer just for geekzoners on top of all that good stuff, because we like you guys so much

Switch to Bigpipe UFB (any UFB plan) before midnight on 20th May 2015 and, when you pay your first UFB monthly bill, we'll give you a $100 voucher of your choice.

Choose from:  JBHiFi,  iTunes, Mighty Ape, or anything else we can reasonably acquire.

Who's Eligible?
To be eligible for this offer you must:

i)Be geekzone member with at least 1 post at the time of this post going live

ii)Sign up for Bigpipe UFB before midnight on 20th May 2015 (you do not have to be connected by then, just signed up)

iii)Fit any one of the following profiles:

Either, you are currently a UFB customer of another ISP moving to Bigpipe UFB
Or, currently a xDSL customer of another ISP moving to Bigpipe UFB,
Or, you are currently a Bigpipe xDSL customer upgrading to UFB (yes, existing customers count too. You'll get the voucher, but not the free lightbox, you already had  a free month when you signed up),

iv) be able to get Bigpipe UFB at your property in Wellington. (check your address on our site)

(other standard Bigpipe terms apply, staff and family of Bigpipe, Spark etc not eligible blah blah usual legal stuff. see site for details www.bigpipe.co.nz)

Gimme my Voucher!

Once you have been connected and paid your first bill, just PM me here with the email address you used to sign up and we'll take it from there.

P.S. I know at least a couple of you have already switched already to Wellington UFB with us.  We don't want to punish you for jumping in early, so don't worry, we'll still hook you up with the voucher - same terms apply. (we're nice like that) :)

When are you coming to Whanganui?  Our UFB network is finished, the ribbon is being cut at 10am this morning.

(although I'm on a 12 month contract so it's OK if you wait until January next year)

sweet i'm in, ill PM after it's confirmed I can get UFB.

approximately how much am I expected to pay for a UFB capable modem or router.

My current gear is Draytek Vigor 130 and Linksys EA3500.

I assume my router wont be able to directly connect to the ufb connection?
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Linksys_EA3500

What's the recommended go to good value reasonable quality UFB router/modem that people recommend?
(Happy to buy 2nd hand on trademe or via amazon usa)

We don't use VLAN tagging so just about any router will work.  It's just a matter of whether it has the power to handle all the speed. So your Linksys should be fine as far as I can see. No need to invest in a new router :)

You won't need your Draytek at all.

Can a customer request a connection with VLAN tagging, so as to make use of the priority CIR component?

Cheers

yep.  that option isn't in the sign-up form, but just email our team after you've signed up and we can do that.  (obviously you'll need a compatible router etc)

Awesome guys, I have signed up and should be connected by June 6th if all goes well. Have been holding out for a few months now for Big Pipe to release in WGTN but this offer makes it worth it.

Hey

I was just wondering, I emailed requesting upgrade from bigpipe vdsl -> ufb on 15.5 and I'm still waiting on them to confirm whether ufb is available here (1x database states yes, another database states no).  Will I still get the voucher offer?

Thanks
