Minus a few glitches setting up my NF4V, we have enjoyed 40 down and 10 up.

But now we are moving. Our new address is an apartment block closer to the city, single level, carparking underneath. Im a bit confused how they are going to run fibre, but I imagine if they have laid copper they can lay fibre to the apartment some how. I did a check for availablity.

My question is, if you are moving mid billing period from $89 to starter UFB what happens with billing etc?

And just to check the Netcomm NF4V is definitely UFB compliant?

if you are staying with the same ISP it should be fairly simple, the billing side that is.

looks like it will be the body corp will be the problem if nobody has already requested it in the block.

i didnt realise there was a telephony port on my modem. i presume that wont work with skype only a dedicated voip service?

NF4V will be fine for fibre. The voice ports on the NF4V are for SIP services only, but I think there are some Skype-to-SIP services available that you can try.

We don't pro-rate etc. Normally with plan upgrades we do them ASAP and then change your billing from next period - so this is what happens here. Normally that would give you an advantage (i.e. getting the better plan but not paying for it until next period) but this is an odd situation where you are upgrading to a faster plan, but actually paying a lower monthly charge. I think the same process would be followed though (so absolute worst case, you will be out $10 if you happen to switch 1 day after your billing run)

In any case, since you are moving to an apartment, I wouldn't get too excited about a rapid move to UFB. Unless all the pre-build work has been done (and not many have) then it can take many months to get UFB put in.

Our FAQ needs an update I think on this topic, as it was written with ADSL/VDSL moves in mind.

"If you decide you want MORE Bigpipe goodness we'll increase your speed as soon as we can and you won't be charged the higher amount until your next 'Bill Date'. Sweet.

If you decide you want LESS Bigpipe goodness we won't decrease your speed until your next 'Bill Date' - when you're charged the lower amount. Because you already prepaid for the higher plan you get to enjoy that until the next billing cycle."

to answer your other question, yes, NF4V is fine for UFB.
