My son has a prepay Skinny mobile. Yesterday he was unable to send us text messages. After trying various things on his phone with no luck, I called Skinny last night and there was a prerecorded message advising that there are issues with sending texts from the Skinny network.

I've looked on the Skinny website but couldn't find any type of service status page. Does Skinny show such outages on their website?

My son tried sending a text this morning but still not working. He is able to receive texts. He is on a $9 combo which has unlimited texts.

Perhaps this: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11469581

I
got some texts yesterday and I am on skinny - a couple of those came from spark phones.

It seems most companies like ISPs/Telcos/Power have outages or network status pages - but dont seem to get around to updating them in any useful sort of timeframe. I always check for those status pages before calling - and usually it ends up being something they know about. - Its annoying.

Your son should call skinny back if he is still having issues.

I read that article this morning. Thought it might have been related. Will call them again when he gets home from school.

Still unable to send texts this evening. Called Skinny and we checked phone settings and they were all correct, so fault has been logged.
