So, a while back I started a thread asking about routers for UFB and whether or not I could use my newish Apple Airport Extreme....

Everyone thought it might work but neither the members here nor BigPipe themselves could tell me for sure so went through the process of looking at my options and decided that I would give the Airport Extreme a go and if it didn't work I'd sort something else out.

Well, today the fibre was installed and with about a minute of reconfiguration it works just fine!  More than fine......

An Airrort Express will work fine on any UFB connection with an untagged UNI (ie no VLAN) tag.

Until Apple move out of the 1990's and support VLAN tagging (which is pretty much a MEF defacto standard these days for fibre networks) you won't be able to use one if your connection requires VLAN tagging.

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking of switching to BigPipe and to know I don't need to buy a modem and can just connect direct to my Time Capsules WAN port is great.
