This is a bit of an odd one, I've got an old Skinny SIM that I've used in a PocketWiFi in the past (main purpose as a 'oh no, the power is out, time for mobile data' device/SIM), but not used for just over a year due to better data packs/etc for my main phone.

I'm in the situation where if I login to the Skinny site, I still see the info about the number that was attached, but it says "Last top-up 24 June 2014, SIM cards expire 12 months after last top-up", but it seems the network still allows the SIM card to connect (not my past experience with network-killed SIMs - looking at you VF ;)). So I'm left with a SIM that should be dead (maybe it's execution is queued?), that doesn't appear to be dead. Is it actually effectively dead or is there still time to top it up.

I'd pop it into a phone and see what happens when I try to access any of the menus but that'd involve breaking the SIM down in size.

I would suspect like VF and Spark that after the expiry period if us they wait a month or two before doing anything.

At the end of 12 months we give a 1 month grace period before deactivating the SIM. So whilst on death row you still have time for a final appeal.

With Skinny, I think you can transfer credit between sims, so you could try transferring say, $5.00, from your phone SIM and see if it works OK. If it does and and the messages about it being deactivated go away, then it is probably worth trying to do a $20 top up.

Sound like you are within the extra one month grace period anyway, so in all probability it will still be OK... but I would do something ASAP - the extra one month grace period is almost up!

Thanks Mr Skinny! Silly thing is, I had originally decided to just let the SIM die, but had a change of heart last night and couldn't remember if it was June or July.

(Side note: In this case the SIM was registered/attached to an online login/e-mail address, maybe an e-mail trigger for a reminder would be handy for those cases)
