We have our domain name registered through Spark, who appear to outsource this to MelbourneIT.

Anyway, our domain no longer resolves. Spark help desk don't seem to have a clue, and MelbourneIT say "phone Spark".

Is there anyone from Spark on here who can help shed some light on this?

I'm hoping it will be resolved by morning, but if not this will cause major issues for my work.

EDIT: I am also unable to log onto the DNS control panel.

I'm not in that team, but I work with them closely. PM me the details, I'll be at work at 7am, one of them should be on board at 7-30

Appears to be an outage for the third party DNS provider, see http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=106&topicid=177628 but send your details anyway in case I can arrange a faster fix for you, should it still be an issue in the morning

I have been liasing at senior people at spark about this as I work for a large corporate. They are looking at this via managing their third parties. You'll see in another thread here that Sky is also impacted.

Just got off the phone with Spark digital and they still don't have a solution

Details sent to tdgeek, thanks.

Spark is obviously aware of the issue, so I may as well try to get some sleep and hope it is sorted by the time I get up.

Our domain is resolving again, so it appears the issue is fixed.

You may want to look at a DNS provider that publishes their SLA, and make a decision on whether your current provider is the correct choice for your business.

DNS should be distributed, and you should never be in a position where you are unable to resolve

We use AWS Route53 for domain registration and DNS. 100% SLA for DNS, due to being globally distributed.

I'll be looking at changing, as this isn't even the first time this has happened.

And Spark don't deal with this themselves, it is all outsourced. I had to bounce around the help desk staff for 45 minutes before I even got someone who had even a vague idea of what was going on.

And their service status never mentioned the problem (not when I checked any way).
