I'm getting Sparks fiber and they have just sent me a Huawei HG630B. On the modems Device Information page it has "software V100R001C55B022" and on Sparks site it has the latest firmware. The downloaded firmware is named (HG630bV100R001C55B021_upgrade_packet.bin). Seems to me the modem has a newer version already if I go by the last two digits. I'm nervous to try and update because there seems to be no way to backup current firmware first.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Also I plan to use my current TP-LINK TL-WR741ND as a repeater for the new wireless modem. Has anyone managed to bridge these two successfully as I understand the TP-LINK can be quite difficult.

Turns out there's an upgrade for the 659b as well (from build 18 to build 20), just updated it no issues. No changelog or obvious differences of course.
