Hi

I have noticed of recent that the time on my iPhone is creeping on the Spark network. The time settings are set to auto.

In measuring my phones time against a couple of NTP servers (using the Emerald and Sequoia Time app) it's losing about 3 secs a day. At the moment, it's up to about 95 secs out. Is anyone at Spark aware of this or is this a Spark issue and something else.

Chris

Should also add that it's a 6 Plus running iOS 9

I did potentially wonder if it was an iOS thing which is why I mentioned it.

Hmm! My iPhone, on Skinny, is about 33 seconds fast (compared with my Mac and my non-Mac).

If Apple declare that that is the correct time...then that is the correct time and the standard by which all others should be set :-)

Also daylight savings starts this weekend, so hold your hat because it's all about to change.

Daylight savings went through without a hitch. I did notice that on my partners 2 iPhones (4S and 5) that the time is normal. It is also a head on my iPad Air 2.

Perhaps this is only certain devices? Would a carrier update fix this? I have tried most things I can find on the net and now its up to 2 mins out. Not a big deal in the scheme of life but if you are a little OCD, its a pain in the neck.

What happens if you change to manual time, then set time to 15mins out. Change back to auto, does time correct itself?
If it's drifting a few seconds a day, then that would tend to indicate it is not retrieving regular time updates, rather than the Spark server time being out.

Or as above, you're on Apple time :)

I did a little playing this morning.

Set the time to manual, put the device in flight mode and took the sim card out. I then put in a Vodafone sim and turn it all back on and the time to Auto. The time was still showing as being ahead and is now out to 120 mins.

I guess this shows its not a Spark issue but more of an Apple issue and I guess I should not be surprised. Odd that is only on those 2 devices and not on the other Apples units in my house.

Yeah did all the testing of mobile data on and off, wifi on and off. Its some kind of glitch but seems to be only applying to these 2 models the iPad Air 1, 4S and 5 all work fine.

Hmm, I have an iPhone 6 Plus on 2degrees. Its perfectly synced with the computer (Apple there too). And just checked (with a Linux server which is NTP synced) and the computer is accurate as well.

Mine is now reporting as exact, maybe this is due to the 9.0.2 update.

Removed lots of off topic, "joke" posts. No need for this folks - you are either helping or not.
