a flag for the internet
oh hai Geekzoners

We're running a comp to design a flag for the internet. So if the internet was a country, what would its flag be?

(example pic is example)

We figured you've probably got some solid MS Paint skills so we'd like to open it up to you as well. Our favourite entry (across Geekzone, Twitter and FB) gets a $200 JB Hifi voucher plus their flag printed on a T-shirt. Obviously we're partial to memes and all things amusing but originality will go a long way.

Post your entries in this thread & go hard! More details + T&Cs here

By all accounts we want to brand New Zealand based on us having:

Stars anyone in the southern hemisphere can see,
Ferns
No mention of a kiwi so I through that in, given our kiwi troops wear this badge to identify us...
oh and a koru, which looks to be more ferns, although I like to think of it at a wave, cos we are an island (or two) after all.

Flag of the Internet

Handsome Dan Has Spoken.
Handsome Dan needs to stop adding three dots to every sentence...

Handsome Dan does not currently have a side hustle as the mascot for Yale

Handsomedan: Flag of the Internet

I wanted to put some boobs on there, as that's what the internet is all about, apart from cats, but I reckon I captured the essence of the 'net

Now, I know what you're thinking - it's just the old Red Peak flag trying to worm its way into another vote.  Ah, but note the cunningly inserted corporate logo*!  Every few years, to coincide with a rugby/football/cricket/netball world cup, or an Olympic/Commonwealth games, or a general election, the government could sell off sponsorship rights to the national identity, thus raising much-needed funds to replace the money wasted on things like flag referenda.

*Sincere apologies to Fonterra - no disrespect intended.  Just a randomly chosen well-known company logo for illustrative purposes.

Any flag for the internet should contain Goatse, Tubgirl, Lemonparty, and random gore porn from /b/

I am seeing jokes on NZ suggested flags, but nothing for the Internet itself, with memes, etc...

The jokes I get, but the fascination with a design plagiarised from Peak Engineering I don't.

Well in all honesty I'd put the design similarity between Red Peak and Peak Engineering down to convergent evolution rather than plagiarism but... wait

wait

flag for the internet

flag for the internet

Damn NZ flag discussion. It just won't stop interrupting our parody competition of the NZ flag discussion!

But seriously folks, keep the "flag for the internet"-themed entries coming. We're keen to print someone a terribad amazing t shirt. And give away a $200 JB Hi-Fi voucher, of course.

an internet flag would only work if it supported animated gifs and looked like a geocities page circa 1996

actually, If I were to make a non animated interwebs flag, Id make it based on the kiwi flag (because this country is the best obviously) and go geek with it.

interwebs flag

Here's a flag I put together! As well as a gif link below

A Mosiac of internet popups, with the IE 4.0 logo sitting in front!

The internet popup texture itself would make a cool fabric print I think
