Apparently because of the major increase in people buying mobiles over the christmas/boxing day period and wanting to put their original number onto their new phone there now is a massive delay with the process.

I went into a TNZ store had had my prepaid number & credit swapped onto my new Samsung W531, was given a print out and thought all was fine until about an hour later when my number had still not been swapped and neither my new or old handset could do anything on the network apart from call *123 (I have had the process done before and can only remember it taking 10 or so minuites).

I decided, hey it's the holidays, so I will just play with my new phone and wait it out untill the next morning. Still nothing the next morning, rang telecom, they suggested wait another day, which i did, still nothing. Went in to the TNZ shop just on 2days after having started the process, thinking they had possibly done something wrong. I was greeted by a "Let me guess you tried to change your number and it hasn't worked" yes this was correct... I asked what could be done and the assistant said nothing, because they don't know how long the delay is. So now i have two mobiles which neither are working and the assistant is telling me they can't do anything. I have no idea if I am missing calls, texts and what not and they just suggest to "wait it out". I finally ask if they can change my number back to my original phone which in turn I just recieve a blank look until they call another assistant out.

I get my number back onto my original phone, and politly ask when i should come back and try again, which again they just respond with "we don't know, the system is delayed" I ask if they can call someone higher up to find out and again just get "they don't know".

I leave to also find out I have lost all the credit on my number also.

Anyone got any inside information on this delay?

if you had bought your new samsung w531 from telecom store or dealer they could have supplied you the new phone with your number on it getting your phone up and running in as little as 10 minutes to 4 hours with the credit being applied immediately, however being that you now want to swaps numbers and credit over the phone could be offline for up to 48 hours and it could take that long again for the credit to be applied. As for the system delay they are normally sorted same day.

ESN changes have a SLA of 4 hours, while swaps (consiting of two by two ESN changes) have an SLA of 8 hours.

If you PM me the detals, i.e both ESN's, Mobile numbers and your name and contact number I will look into the swap for you, but as to the credit transfer, you just have to wait.

Allright, thanks for the offer.

Just sent a message containing details on the ESN's, cell numbers and my contact details.

Thanks.

from what im aware of
when doing an esn change, credit etc is swapped over anyway..
just call telecom now, they should be able to assist over the ph...
ive always had bad experiences with telecom dealers, well, the contracted dealers..
if *123 dont help, try faults, 120-mobile.
only delays would be new connections? but evn with a commit of 48hours, u can actually call telecom, and well, they can cutt it down to within 4hours..(in cases of emergencys/urgency)

This has been done, the OP is all connected. Credit's will always follow the number, but if you wish to transfer credit from one number to another then it take times.

Thanks very much to nzbnw, was extremely helpful and only took a few minutes to go through the process and all is well.
