So I've left Vodafone 2 weeks ago. Ordered BigPipe and got the "we've contacted Chorus for a date" but still nothing! It's been 10 days. I'm out a fortune using my iPhone to tether on Vodafone. How long will it take for BigPipe to connect me? Location is Central Otago.

It sounds like UFB ...... and a person that does not understand (like so many others) how it all works.

I've ordered ADSL with BigPipe. Can't get VDSL or anything faster.

Welcome to Geekzone Irish. I am quite sure someone from BigPipe will respond tomorrow morning. You have made a good choice of ISP if any of the comments in this forum are anything to go by.

Got this email on 30 Oct...

---- "Hey ******,

Just to let you know, we've placed an order with Chorus to establish your connection. Once we've received confirmation of your installation date, you'll be the first to know." -----

Any ideas or advice?

Have you emailed and ask?

I know this doesn't help now, but for future reference, sign up with new ISP, make sure everything is connected and working, then cut old ISP.

Should normally get a date back within a day or so.
Either somethings gone wrong somewhere and not been picked up, or emails might be sitting in your spam box.
Why would you wait ten days before following up?

Best thing is to probably just follow up directly with Bigpipe. Send an email asking what's going on. It will take you 30 seconds to do it, and probably get a faster response than postin here. (Since even if they do see it, they wil need to ask you to pm your details before they can look up your account)

Hi,

Doesn't sound right.  You should have had the date confirmed within 1 business day in almost all cases for Copper broadband (ADSL and VDSL), so something has slipped through the cracks there.

Check your spam folder to make sure nothing slipped into there, then either get in touch with our team directly through our site (our site will get the fastest response most likely) or Facebook, or DM me your email address and I can follow up.

cheers

ETA:  nevermind, I have found the details using my amazing interwebs skills (looking at profile name, then searching orders around that date).

Looks like the connection was blocked because of the disconnection order from Vodafone. We are unable to place a new order with Chorus until that disconnection is completed.

Tip for the future (or for anyone else reading this thread):
When changing ISPs, don't disconnect from your existing ISP. Sign up with new guys, they will handle the process. Then just check in with the old ISP to make sure everything is tidied up billing-wise.

This seems to happen from time to time.

I hope that there is no port waiter there.

You're doing it wrong. Always let the new ISP handle the changeover to minimise the service disruption.
