well, not quite...  But still pretty cool.

We now have a nifty feature on the Bigpipe address checker which will not only tell you if your property can get UFB (just like other ISPs do) but will ALSO tell you if the property has an ONT already installed which means it will be super quick to get hooked up.

Very handy if you are thinking of moving somewhere and want to know if you can get UFB goodness quickly, or will need to wait for a while for a chorus installer.

It will look something like this:

Caveat: It's only using Chorus data for now, so other regions (like Enable) won't have real data. (and only applied where we sell UFB)

Also the data is a little out of date so if you've had UFB installed in the last month or two it likely won't show up until we update it again in the new year.

Nice one guys!  Really smart.  Hopefully the other regions can extend the same information to you.

Nice addition.

Related feedback: The example (a/70/George Street) font colour on the address checker form is too light: I can't read it without looking at my screen at an extreme angle.

I can't speak for Detruire, but it's light grey on white for me in Firefox on Windows 7. Chrome and IE seem to display it a bit "bolder" but it still doesn't meet any sort of sensible contrast ratio - it's an asoundingly low 1.32:1 at present.

It's just not the easiest to read for some people's eyes, that's all no matter what screen/browser you use - I suggest making the text larger and the background darker.

Firefox 43 on Windows 7.

It's better with Chrome, but still very hard to read on my laptop screen (and hard on the desktop one.)

I agree that it's hard to read the example text.

I don't necessarily think the text needs to be darker, I do think that area needs to be far clearer. It isn't immediately obvious that the text entry fields are even there.

Yes it looks kind of cool and modern, but if it's hard for people to use, it's wrong.

It's not something that's come up in user testing.
It is supposed to be lighter than normal text (so people know it is just an example and to input their own info) but I will pass this feedback on to the devs and see what we can do.

cheers

ha!  that's happened a few times,  but even more common is the previous tenant taking the ONT power cable with them. so annoying.

The problem is you are testing on IPS panels probably.

Do it on a cheap crap dell laptop from off axis and see the text just disappear.

edit: this is it on my lousy 144Hz gaming monitor.

assuming it embeds.

As someone who's house shopping this is a very welcome addition! Being able to get fibre is very high on the house wish list. Being able to see if there is already an ONT installed, will bump some houses higher than others.

Hmm it seems to have the results in the reverse from reality for me. We live in a fibre-only subdivision, but the results are showing we can have either ADSL or VDSL but not UFB!

A useful reference for web accessibility. It specifies minimum contract between text and backgrounds.
