If you disable incoming DM's then you should not be able to send a DM

Sorry cbrpilot I appreciate the effort to contact me.

The issue I raised with you is apparently on the way to being sorted after a journalist contacted somebody in Spark Social Media.

Some change by BDFL to profile settings since 2013 must have occurred. Forum and pm notification is shown as "Enabled", does that need contact icon to be Yes to be valid?

If you have Privacy set then you won't receive PMs or mention notifications. This is not new.

I wonder whether it's case-sensitive. I'll test with you to avoid pestering Bung... @jase2985 @jase2985

 

Edit: Nope, it's underlined both, and reformatted them to lowercase (I typed the second one with a capital J).

As I mentioned it is the Privacy settings on user's profile.

So it looks like it won't underline/link it if the user has Privacy set. That makes it easy to tell at a glance whether the notification was sent.
