Moved from a house with ADSL2 to a property with UFB. ONT is installed, and previous tenant was using UFB. When I notified Spark about the house moved I asked to be upgraded to UFB, but the reps I talked to insisted that first my ADSL2 needed to be moved and then request the upgrade. Ok, fair enough, I asked to be connected to ADSL the same day I was moving in, received the TXT message confirming that I was connected but when I plugged to ADSL modem no connection, and no dial tone from the telephone sockets either (not sure that's relevant to get ADSL tough).

Talking to 123 and telling my story several times has been a waste of time so far and after running the troubleshooting steps (turn the modem off and on again, reset it to factory settings,...) "the only thing they can do" is to send a tech and charge me if "it's my fault".

I wonder if the reason I don't get ADSL is because the previous tenant was using UFB, and if there's anything I can do to get broadband before I connected to UFB.

could be that the POTs line was fed through the ONT in which case to get adsl it would need to be jumpered back.

Considering the ONT is installed, it may be faster to just get that back up and live.

When my UFB was installed and proved to be working, the copper line was physically disconnected at the house boundary, and I believe this is standard practice. So that would explain the lack of ADSL and a dial tone

It would seem a lot simpler to transition directly to UFB

Most likely the POTS wiring in the house is feeding back to the ATA ports on the ONT and not connecting to the copper service lead. Or the copper service lead has been removed entirely during the UFB install process.

Either way, it seems utterly ridiculous they wouldn't just run a UFB order - it may take a tad longer than a DSL connection but is the better option with far less screwing around. I think you need to call them back and insist on having UFB connected, and ask to speak to someone else if the first person you get won't do this.

Thanks for all responses. I already ordered UFB but might take some days without broadband.

Pissed off because I always mentioned there was an ONT at the property and previous tenant had UFB. Hopefully won't be charged because they sent a Chorus technician to check the outside.

Most likely this. ^^^

Have a look and see if there is a plug into one of the ATA sockets on the ONT. If there is, it's likely that is feeding back to the copper ETP to feed all the phone jacks. To get ADSL/VDSL working again would simply require that inside the copper ETP, that the feed from the ONT be disconnected and the copper lead-in reconnected.

Unless of course the copper lead-in was removed during the UFB install process, then you really are stuck. Best bet then would be to get the ONT back up!
