Noticed today a couple calls sounded HD quality, flicked a tweet to Spark and they are rolling it out over the next month's for compatible devices.

Anyone noticed the change?

Is this only for Spark to Spark calls, or have they got it working cross network with Vodafones HD Voice? I was sure I saw a post somewhere saying they would never have cross network HD Voice.

Last i checked 2degrees to vodafone isnt cross network too, ashame really.. kinda makes it pointless.

is worth the ask, is this just HD Voice or have spark built up LTE voice into their network?

Wondering also if this is part of the bandwidth buy up in March, would be great if all Teleco's could get this tech to work together.

If you are referring to the 70MHZ of 2300MHZ TDD spectrum this is to be used for mobile broadband.

Does this apply to Skinny too, as it's on the same network.

Very nice. I normally use facebook messanger to talk to people, so the step down in quality on a phone call is really bad, this should make phonecalls more tollerable.

Yea, I am guessing due to the requirement for them to use it, the pushed this though as one of the options to show they are using it?

Just like G722 on a voip network, kind of pointless without an interconnect between them. I guess there isn't any benefit to the providers, but wouldn't it be a fantastic way to show they care about user experience?!

I just called voicemail and there was no improvement. Of course, the voicemail service itself may not have been upgraded to HD!

I seem to remember some news about HD Voice several years ago and I think I even experienced it at the time. Is that right - was it here once before and went away or am I going further nuts? I think I was on Vodafone at the time.

No it hasn't come and gone, it's just Spark coming late to the party :)
