Hi guys

Just had Bigpipe UFB connected and I'm trying to set up a DSL-2900AL I purchased separately. Bigpipe say their customers have had ongoing issues with D-Link routers and I was wondering if anyone has successfully managed to get this router working with Bigpipe UFB and if so, what settings they used?

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Matt

Should be pretty simple for Bigpipe - they don't use VLAN10 so you should just need to setup a PPPoE connection over the WAN port.

Are you able to connect your PC direct to the ONT and create a dial-up/pppoe connection straight from windows?

The ongoing issue is an odd bug with recent D-Link device firmware. It manifests itself in a couple of forms:

1: The PPP session will come up, the router will get an IP address, and IP traffic will flow. The Internet light on the router however will stay off/red. If you try and perform a DNS look up, it will fail. If you connect to an IP address directly (Steam, Skype, torrents, pings, etc), traffic will flow as expected.

2: On ADSL, the speeds will be low (around 1Mbps) even when sync speeds are good.

3: Both of the above symptoms at the same time.

In some situations after entering the settings the router will connect, and everything will work as expected. Haven't been able to get this to happen reliably on a PPP connection. One thing which can help is setting the DNS servers manually, either on the D-Link itself, or on the client device.

If you have another device you can use (computer, router, etc), or have been given an alternate option, do it. You'll save yourself a lot of bother.

If you do manage to get it working reliably I'd be very interested to hear how. :)

Thanks guys - I still have a Bigpipe modem so I guess I'll be using that for now. Sounds like getting the D-Link to work might be too much of a headache. :(
