Have been seeing an update message for my Huawei B315s-608 for the last 10 days or so.    So far I have just clicked on 'cancel' & ignored the message.    The unit is working absolutely perfectly.

Just wondering if I should attempt the update or just keep on ignoring it.     I have unhappy memories of trying to update a Dynalink modem router a few years ago which did

not turn out well at all.

Hi,

Yes, you should do the update. Huawei loaded the firmware update before we had the chance to let the base know. Some comms should be going out in a day or two.

Your device will be working perfectly fine, but there is an issue that can happen to any of these devices worldwide that causes them to become unusable (flash memory issue in case you are wondering).

The percentage of devices effected is very minimal, however, we did not want to take any chances.

Sorry for the lack of communication.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,
Alex

Many thanks for the very quick answer!    I've just done the update & it went perfectly.    It sat on 99% when installing, then I realised that the wifi connection had dropped (as you'd expect), so reconnected & it finished the install.

I have just done a speedtest and got 45 Mbps  download and about 25 Mbps upload so all seems well.

My modem forced me to update about a month ago, it would not connect to the internet at all until I updated. Unfortunately I had forgotten the admin password so had to reset the modem.

Skinny's help desk was very helpful with their advise on this.

BTW Skinny want to do a 100GB plan for around $80 a month?
