Hi there,
I am wanting to ask some questions before I proceed to get Ultra Fast Fibre. I have just recently moved into this house not to long ago and I'm surprise that this house use to have Fibre(Seeing as though there is a Fibre ONT box in the garage). Now all I got to do is just call in for the technicians to flick the switch from ADSL to Fibre and all done :) according to this post (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=165640). However I have some questions to ask before doing this.
1. I was wondering I would like to connect my modem router to the Fibre ONT. But since my modem router is upstairs and the Fibre ONT is downstairs in the garage, how would a technician find a way to connect my modem router that is upstairs to the Fibre ONT that is downstairs in the garage..?? I really need to know this as I really want to use my modem router for Fibre connections..
P.S. I have this possibility but I'm not sure if this works but I'm pretty sure there is a thing called ''powerline networking'' that the technicians could use to the the modem that is upstairs to the ONT that is in the garage. But, the question is will the technicians do this since after all Fibre connections are free to install so I'm pretty sure this is powerline networking method is covered by the free installation.
2. Seeing as though this post (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=165640) says that since Fibre is already installed, now all is needed is for a technician to switch/flick it on which does not require the technician to go inside/come to my house. Is this true? I can see a lot of people saying it is and a few saying perhaps..
Thanks
