Hi all, I have been setting up a new connection with Bigpipe and just rememdied my speed issue, where i wasn't quite getting full speeds... now I'm wondering what other users are getting as far as ping using Speedtest.net?

I'm getting a solid 20/21, in chch on 200/200

Ping to where? IIRC everything for BigPipe still goes through Auckland so the best place to speedtest to is the Auckland Spark server.

I get a pretty consistent 11ms from Wellington.

This - from where to where exactly would help more, and also a couple of example servers you find this on too, especially if you're gaming.

Nice thanks Dan, makes sense that the further south of Auckland you go the ping gets higher, happy with the speeds though bring on gigabit!

Have you contacted our support team regarding this with traceroutes? Would really help to know if this is just a general average and what servers you're using when you get this (not just on a speedtest).

If you already have, PM me your email address and I'll get one of our team to have another look :)

No I hadn't raised it with the support team at this stage it's just a result I have from speed test but I'll have a look later on to see what I'm getting from some game servers to compare. Didn't realise you were from Bigpipe!

Was that over wifi or ethernet though? To Spark's speedtest server, etc?

Sorry should have specified, via gigabit ethernet to Spark Auckland (Fritz!Box, untagged connection)

I have a hunch that they backhaul traffic from Palmerston North through Wellington.

Pings to Auckland servers from my home connection are 1.5-2x what they are compared to the Inspire UFB connection at work.

But it sounds like (from the scheduled maintenance over the last few months) that will be changing to handing over at local POPs instead of Auckland. I assume for UFB not just ADSL.
