Before:

After:

Interesting that the downstream attenuation increased by 6.2db? Possible due to the Chorus guy pulling on the cable trying to get more of it out of the conduit?

I'm guessing this will increase over time as now I should have a reliable connection that doesn't cut out in the rain.

based on your later results i'd recommend talking to your ISP.

Something appears to have gone wrong.

After testing another modem which seemed fine; put current one (HG659) back in and still looks fine now:

Maybe a few reboots have done the trick.

Quit while you are ahead - DO NOT reboot again - it may make your VDSL performance worse again.

it is certainly possible that a vdsl modem goes bad and syncs like that.

i had one of my 7390s die in a car ride between flats (of about 2 mins) where it would decide to sync at 1/3 instead of the 70/10 capable of that line (this is back in 997 days)
