Hey so I'm trying to connect to my BigPipe Fibre connection using an ex-vodafone hg659 modem.

- I have received emails from BigPipe affirming that the connection is ready.
- I can connect to fibre when I connect my laptop directly into the fibre box with an ethernet cable and create a broadband PPPoE connection. However I want to get the modem working so we can use all of our devices.
- I have read through all the troubleshooting guides on BigPipe and I have read a few on Geekzone, but none help.
- I am emailing back and fourth with BigPipe customer service but they are taking ages to respond and only answer some of my questions in our emails.
- When I go into the modem settings, log in, and try to create an internet connection through the connection wizard, I select the option to make a PPPoE connection, however this does not work. It scans for the internet and says it cannot find a connection.
- I understand that I need to switch off VLAN, however I cannot find anywhere, in any of the modem settings, options where I can do this. I tried following a previous geekzone forum post about this where the instructions said to edit a setting in the Internet-->Internet Settings page, however when I go here there is no edit button anywhere to click.
- This modem was previously being used for a VDSL connection, however it is able to be used for fibre, so I assume this should still be fine?
- Have tried setting the DNS settings in the LAN interface manually to the addresses BigPipe requires and I have tried just letting it do it automatically for me, but neither work.

Just wondering if anyone knows how I can disable the VLAN, or, what else I may need to do in order to get internet access?

Any help is much appreciated :)

Peace

If you can't edit the connection, then you used the wrong username/password to log into the HG659. Username should be Admin and password VF-NZhg659, or @[last 8 digits of the serial number].

Are you connected to the correct Gigabit Ethernet WAN Port for connecting to Fibre?

Hi,

I just went through this tonight, try loading the big pipe firmware

Download from here (scroll to the bottom)

http://pages.bigpipe.co.nz/bigpipe-modem-setup/#how-to-connect-on-adsl-vdsl

Plug in via Ethernet cable

Login using the Admin login and password from the post above ( they are both case sensitive)

Go to maintain -> Device management -> Firmware upgrade and load the big pipe firmware (may take up to 5mins)

You know it is loaded when the colour scheme changes to black and green

Factory reset the modem and then log in with !!Huawei and Huawei-Hgw as per the page above

Note this is only for the HG659 not the HG659b

Clint

Edit: typos and url

Awesome, thanks, this resolved the issue. I logged in as Admin and edited the connection with details BigPipe gave me. BigPipe also emailed me back with the same response around the same time as your reply, so kudos to BigPipe too.

Internet is fully functional. We can live again. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the comments from the other two replies. Managed to sort it out anyhow.

Cheers
