I was wondering if anyone has already encountered this problem, before I get into extensive troubleshooting.

I have BigPipe VDSL, using a Draytek DV130 in bridge mode to a Cisco E4200 running DD-WRT.

Once every few days it is as if I am 'disconnected' from the internet for about 20 seconds.

This can happen at any time.

It is not a name resolution problem, as a continuous ping to the internet will time out when it's happening.

Examining the logs on both the Draytek and the DD-WRT router, it appears that as far as they are concerned the physical connection stayed up on the Draytek, and the PPPoE connection stayed up on the DD-WRT router.

Anyone seen this before?

Yes. DSL sometimes does drop and re-sync. There could be any number of reasons including DLM.

In most cases it will just re-connect and be fine. I wouldn't get too strung up about it.

Would suggest doing more tests on your hardware to rule it out first, but for what it's worth I have my dad's Bigpipe VDSL connection setup on a Draytek DV130 in bridge mode and he has regular uptime of 45+ days without issues.

Intriguingly if you looked at my logs you would see an uptime number like that too, I'm being lied to by my equipment. I'll target the router first.
