Hi Everyone!
Recently moved into a new flat and decided to go with Bigpipe for their Fast ADSL to start with, just to get up and running, then was going to swap over onto the Fibre plan that's the same cost.
However, connection has been a bit painful. After having to disconnect an existing connection, I was told yesterday that Chorus had managed to connect us and we were good to go!
I got home and set up the router that I had brought with me from my old Trustpower connection (Netcomm N300 NB604N).
Did a factory reset, set up the router as per Bigpipe's website, and nothing. There are three jack points in the flat, and I tried them all, switched for a different ADSL cable (with a splitter on it to get the cable to fit the phone jack, no dedicated ADSL plug here, but it's brand new, out of the shrink wrap), tried them again, nothing.
When I run the built in diagnostics on the router, I'm getting no ADSL sync, no ping from gateway, nothing, and the ADSL light on the front just blinks away, then goes faster as it tries to connect, then back to a steady blink.
Bigpipe have said they're getting a tech to come around and check the line for faults tomorrow (Which is weird because if it had a fault, why was there an active connection already going when we moved in?), but he won't be looking inside the house, just to the termination point on the exterior.
So here's the crux of what I need advice on: There is a VDSL splitter installed on one of the jack points in the bedroom, right next to an older one. When I decided to have a look at the wiring to see if that could be an issue, I found the pictures below.
Basically the main cable comes in, and the jack on the left is wired in THROUGH the VDSL splitter, whilst the second jack on the right is wired straight from the main cable. I'm guessing this was so that you could have VDSL and a landline as well. Is this what's causing the connection issues potentially? Or should I just wait for the tech tomorrow?
Any help you guys could provide would be amazing!
