Hi All

Just had a painfree switchover from Orcon to Bigpipe

Now trying to sort out speed issues, am on Elite Gigabit plan but only getting 400mbs download and 400 mbs upload (tested with speednet)

Testing with Lenovo X1 carbon laptop Windows 10

The router I am using is ex Vodafone HG659

I logged in as !!Huawei and then downloaded the Bigpipe firmware from Big pipes site and then reflashed router and then factory reset

Strange thing is that when I do this the vodafone SSID is still there, I would have thought flashing firmware and factory reset would blow everything away???

The firmware version is now showing V100R001C297B011, is this the correct version?

Bigpipe helpdesk has asked me to retest with iperf3

What else should I be looking at ?

If you factory reset an ISP sourced modem it will surely reset to that ISP's settings, thats the idea.

laptop CPU load using chrome is 50~65%

I ran iperf and am getting

[ 42] 0.00-10.00 sec 96.4 MBytes 80.9 Mbits/sec 55 sender

[ 42] 0.00-10.00 sec 95.9 MBytes 80.4 Mbits/sec receiver

[SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 971 MBytes 814 Mbits/sec 3320 sender

[SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 964 MBytes 809 Mbits/sec receiver

I then tried another PC am getting 900mbs down, so something must be going on with laptop

i'd bet it will come down to the affinity for threading the flash element.

Generally the Single Thread rate is the holdback on speedtests with the flash tool.

BTW, 900mb/s - do you mean 900Mb/s? There's a pretty big difference between the two, and particularly when trying to troubleshoot throughput issues it's important to get the units correct.

just noticed in taskmanager is maxing out @100%

if usb 2.0/3.0 isnt theoretical max 433mbs/640mbs?

It'll be USB2 based - throw in a bit of overhead, and that will be the 400Mb/s you're seeing...

EDIT: Don't know the exact model you have, but Googling the model you listed it looks like some use an external USB-ethernet adapter, perhaps they are all using USB-ethernet.

Dont trust that meter in task manager, i find it often will say 350+ is 100% while easily being capable of pushing 950+ each way also being '100%'
