Hi Guys,

So my GF's phone seems to be using a ton of data and we have no idea why, she has an I-phone 6 and it seems that facebook is using the most data, way more than it should be it seems, and we have not found a fix for this so far. We have tried turning off wifi assist and also replacing the sim, both of which had no luck. She pays $30 per month for 300 mins and 1.25GB.

We have now found that skinny direct offer a plan for the same price with 3.5GB and unlimited calling, which seems almost to good to be true! I understand the better deal can be brought to customers cheaper because the customer has to sign up online and they do not have staff in stores so they save on rent etc. My question is is there any downside to skinny direct that I am not seeing here, like is the coverage and reliability ok etc?

At first I was worried there would online be online assistance via email or something like that if things go wrong (like flip internet) which would be a deal breaker for me but I have called the skinny helpline and they have told me they also deal with skinny direct customers.

skinny direct (like skinny) uses the spark network so coverage etc will be fine.

Replacing the SIM cause mobile data usage is high LOL

The SIM is only used to ID a subscriber onto the mobile network " Subscriber identity module " it could never use mobile data or generate mobile data traffic

Look at things like like icloud settings

I changed to Skinny not that long ago, 3-6 months, and just changed my wife over. Phone support is great. Website is good to very good. All in all it was a good move.

To solve your problem, uninstall the facebook app.

Ok thanks guys, looks like ill make the move for her, regarding the I-phone using to much data, we were told to replace the sim by Vodafone as they said it may be corrupt and using to much data, which I thought was a bit strange but did it anyway as its free to do. We have uninstalled facebook but the phones data seems to be draining elsewhere, she has the mobile data turned off most of the time but the phone still uses so much data its unreal.

I will look into the icloud setting although I know nothing about this, I am an android person myself and I don't think my gf knows to much about her I-phone either, can anyone tell me what I should be doing in the I cloud settings or some other things to try? I have tried a google search but the most common suggestion is to turn off WiFi direct, which was the first thing we did a long time ago.
