Hi

When our phone is picked up or when a phonecall comes through to our landline the internet temporarily gets cut. It's only been doing this for the past few days. The internet reconnects within a minute even if the phone is still in use.

We have three landline phones and our modem on our network; two of the landlines are connected to a jackpoint through an ADSL filter, and the third is connected with the modem through an ADSL filter into another jack points.

Also when picking up the phone I can hear faint crackling sounds although this could have been going on for a while (don't use the landline at all so wouldn't know).

I've called the helpline and their next step is to send out a technician but thought i'd try here to see if anyone could know the issue.

We are on ADSL and i've taken a picture of the modem stats when it drops out: Click to see full size

I have tried different set ups with the landlines and modem (ie one landline plugged into a certain jackpoint while the others aren't plugged in, two landlines plugged in, using differnt jackpoints, replacing the ADSL filters, i've also tried using another modem) but the issue remains

If there's anything you could think of that I could try to sort the issue or if you have any questions please let me know

Thanks

Tom

Need a master filter. One of your wall filters is faulty almost certainly.

I remember looking into these a few years back. Yeah our wiring is pretty bad, our standard connection rate is 6 down .9 up on ADSL2+. It's weird that this issue has only just started happening though? Cheers for the reply

Water in the line can cause this to happen too, the change in DC voltage of the phone going on or off hook changes the line characteristics so much that the DSL has to re-negotiate.

While it would be ideal to have a proper master filter install, there is a good chance that choruses network has just leaked and now has a problem.

I would suggest trying it with a single filter and phone, since you have 3 of them should be able to swap them around to rule out your gear and then log a fault with your ISP. If they do determine that its your wiring it will be a chargeable call out tho.

Crackle on the phone is a fault in its own right, so reporting that fault as being the problem might help speed things along too.
