I have a client, who is using spark. Incoming perfect. Outgoing fails and requests username passwords.
Set to use the same user name password as incoming.
Server = send.xtra.co.nz
Port 465
SSL on.
Seems like spark is having issues again!!

yep getting same.. auth error!! on reply to email
yet the status says probelm recieving emails which seems to work just fine
nothing on sending
but it does say they are messing with id/pwd side of things.
havent they rolled it all off yet.. whats the last day for yahoo being used.
work around is change the send stmp settings to yahoo directly
i use pop peeper for my mail client so its easy to use a second account
and change sending from account.. but other clients could do the same..
can edit stuff emails in the outbox

mattwnz: This is a common intermittent problem. But I am wondering if this latest one isn't related to them moving away from Yahoo!'s servers
According to Spark the change wont happen for a while yet.
According to spark techs they now DO support outlook setup etc whereas in the past few months, if you can connect via web mail, that's all they would do.
Changing to yahoo direct SMTP worked for a while then failed - and had to revert back to send.xtra....etc
I'm barracking hard to get them to move to another system. maybe I'll just bill harder and harder until they either fire me or move owing to costs ;)

That was exactly my initial thought. Since the transition, the amount of phishing spam has dropped from like 15/day to 0/day so, I was wondering if they didn't do this as a matter of controlling the ingress/egress of spam entering the system.
