anyone familiar with the process?

I have a redundant faxability number attached to a main number and broadband connection - I would like to repurpose it for a voip phone.

I am considering porting it to 2talk since I can't see on the website that spark offers this service, maybe they do...

What I would really like to know is if I just go ahead and port the faxability number only, as against the main number with the broadband service attached, will it cause they whole lot to be cancelled/broken/deleted etc, or is it a safe process.

or do Spark offer voip lines similar to 2talks offerings?

As the Faxability number is attached to the Phone line (Not the other way around) it should port with no issues.

There are no issues in porting a faxability number and no it won't impact the primary number or any other services.

Having said that I've seen numerous posts over the years from people who have struggled with this very process with 2talk so the point where they've given up. I don't know if they've improved their processes at all since then since I don't use 2talk.

Spark don't offer DIY VoIP services, they only offer fully managed end to end solutions.

You can port faxability numbers fine.

If you are taking the main number too, do the faxibility one first and let it complete since when the main one goes they cant take the faxibility one.

Landline number porting is a very very slow thing compared to mobiles which is usually done within a few mins to an hour IME, the landline numbers schedule it a week out and then its usually out of action for a while on that day too.
