Really Skinny, do you have to text me at 4:11 AM every month to tell me my auto-topup has processed?? Surely there should be a sanity check on this stuff!

its probably to do with the time you activated your top up and it comes in x hours afterwards
you can always turn the txt messages off in your dashboard if they are that annoying

Shouldn't be hard to not send txts to customers between, say, the hours of 10pm and 8am, BNZ (for example) seem to manage it perfectly fine
you can actually change the setting to receive an email too.
it should be hard, but the user/customer has options to
Vodafone used to be bad for doing this, they now seem to time it well..

Interestingly, under notifications on the control panel, neither txt nor email nor no notification is selected, I wonder if this is a bug. I'll select email and see if it changes. But still, 4am, surely a sanity check for when its acceptable to send administrative texts is in order.
Send me a txt anytime. I have txt audible notifications OFF and check them once every couple of days at most. Nobody I care to communicate with sends txts - Viber, LINE, SIGNAL yes. Not txts - they only go to your phone and that is inconvenient.
In any case, only those that have kept the privilege, by not abusing it, get to go in the group that can contact me any time - the rest stay in the "most daylight hours only" category for notifications. I use technology to simplify my life - not further complicate it.

I've had every notification disabled and had the same problem after logging in again to check top-up notifications arent set at all and yet other things I had set are still remembered so its a bit strange. Had this occur a couple of times it sticks for awhile after logging in and choosing no notification again. To make it worse as I need to always be contactable for work IT issues I keep my notifications loud and the phone is always near me.
Cancel your auto top-up and redo it 7pm.

Ha ha, true, I once designed an app to do just this for a major overseas telco. It isn't quite as easy as you might think though especially if you are sending tens of thousands of messages. But, this was for a system where we sent heaps of messages.

It looks like you are right. Apparently the notification gets sent out an hour before the time the auto-topup was setup and for reasons I can't remember I set this up at 5am one morning. What a strange undocumented feature. Well, hopefully swapping everything to email notifications sorts it out.

My phone goes onto airplane mode everynight - nothing is that important.

if only! Some of us look after networks that need to keep working 24x7 and occasionally need some help overnight.

I pity you. I like to sleep without the thought that I might be necessary. I assume you are paid bucketloads for such a burden.
