Currently we are paying $160 for Lightwave Business 100 Ultra w/Unlimited plan with 2D which gives us a Download speed limit of 100Mbps. However if I change over to BigPipe Elite for only $129 which will give us a download speed of 700~90Mpbs. But we have a Sonicawall NSA 240 which has some speed limitation. What can I upgrade/alternative to, to handle the new increase in speed.

Basically there is no point changing ISP if the equipment can't handle it.

This is for a small office catering for 8 persons.

Do you need the extra speed?

Bigpipe have 100/20 for $79 a month. Should be enough (download anyway) for an office up to about 40 people I'd have thought? Our office is on a 50/50 connection and it is more than enough.

Do you need Static IP? Does the Lightwave Business plan give you any service guarantees? Do you need helpdesk available on the phone (not doable with Bigpipe)?

BigPipe is a residential only ISP and isn't suited for business use. While you could technically join up you'll be breaking their terms and conditions with using it for business. You may be best looking at Spark who offer some pretty competitive business plans.

As for the router I would suggest the Edgerouter Lite or Edgerouter Pro (depending on needs) as you're getting the absolute best bang for buck for an enterprise grade router.

Definitely stick with a business ISP. Spark, Voyager, DTS.

They do handovers properly with local handovers rather than backhauling all the traffic up to Auckland first.

We're running over 100 users on 2dg 100Mbps connections without any contention issues although of course it depends on what you're using the internet for.
