I've been trying to send some progress pictures to a client via MMS for the last few weeks but nothing goes through to him.

He can MMS pictures back to me, and we can send txt messages, but I cannot send him any pictures.

All my other Voda contacts receive pictures fine, and the same on his end. He has an iPhone 5c and I'm on an android SGS7E sourced directly from Spark. My wife is on voda with an iPhone 5s and we message pictures back and forth fine.

We definitely have the right numbers on eachothers phones.

Is this something that I need to contact spark to figure out, or is it something phone related?

Any tips?

have you checked your mms setting ? it should be the same as one below

Yeah, I tried the specific SGS7E settings and did notice the port was defaulting to 80, but the settings guide showed 8080. Regardless, it didn't change anything.

it shouldn't be any problem.

MMS cost 50c per message and it doesn't include in a normal plan. So if you're on pre-paid beware of that.

Also have you tried send one to another Spark mobile ? - a good quick test is to send one to yourself

P.S. also make sure you have mobile data ON regardless if you're on wifi or not.

Yeah, we're both on plans and have no problem with the cost.

I've sent mms to other Spark and Voda numbers without any issue and Mobile Data is definitely turned on.

Whilst typically, I would agree, I don't want to have to ask a client to install an app they don't understand (he's 60+ years old and not technically competent).

I know I'm not answering the question, but MMS seems such a '90s solution to the requirment.

How about emailing the pictures to him? Or putting them in DropBox and SMSing a link?

As shocking as it may be to people on here, there are people that have a phone without a data plan on it. I find it absurd but these people insist they have no need for it and are quite happy with SMSing people on a whole lot of numbers for their communications needs and the odd picture that they pay for. The idea of spending $29 a month on a phone that they take with them seems extravagant.

Noted, but also noted above that both sender and receiver are "on a plan". Given that the cheapest VF plan is $40 per month and includes a GB of data, it's hard to understand how someone with an iPhone and a VF plan would be unable to receive an email or follow a hyperlink.

I think that as "tech aware" people it's our role to cajole people away from old ways of doing things if there are better, cheaper, more reliable ways available. Failing that, just fax him the pictures.

We're getting off topic.

I agree that some users can't/won't leave their luddite backgrounds behind, but I also don't think I should have to dictate a new technological approach to a client simply so he can receive an image every now and then.

What if the person failing to receive my images was my wife, and I had to email her every time I wanted to send her a pic of the boys (no euphemism meant you depraved people...). Our conversation string would be disjointed and lose some of the meaning. It's not ideal.

There doesn't appear to be an answer to my question so I guess i'll have to find an alternative which is suitable for both parties.

Apologies for going OT. It's just I have often found MMS to be unreliable, and recently got stung by a phone automatically turning group SMS into MMS which then cost 50c per recipient. I'm also mentally scarred from trying to explain to an elderly family member why sending texts internationally is expensive, unreliable and best avoided when there are so many free and reliable options available.

I hope you find a good solution

I don't have a solution but I can confirm you are not alone. I'm on skinny and cannot MMS to the vodafone contacts I have tried (three in total so far). I have just this minute successfully sent an MMS to a spark contact.

I haven't tried to contact support other than to confirm the APN settings are correct as I dont mms much.
